Wairoa College students enjoy book and film option
They have read the book and now they are watching the movie - Year 7-8 pupils at Wairoa College view the short film Oku Moe Moea - The dream which is bigger than I am.
Teacher Sheryn Smith says the book/movie written by Shona Hammond Boys was incorporated into class work as well, with pupils taking notes through the screening.
Publisher Mike Smith of BMS Books Ltd says the book/option is ideal for schools.
"At 27 minutes, the film is nicely timed as a follow up to reading the book.
The timing also allows for discussion in the class."
Mike says it is gratifying to see the book and film combination in action.
"The children's verdict that they preferred reading the book is also gratifying," he says.
